Utility Locator - WI/MN Travel

A Utility Locator identifies, locates, and marks the location of subsurface utilities in order to minimize accidental damage or disruption of service due to construction excavation activities. Must be familiar with industry standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Responsibilities What you’ll do: Perform utility locating in support of telecom construction projects by accurately identifying and marking underground utilities, including fiber, electric, gas, water, and other existing infrastructure, in accordance with blueprints, locate tickets, and designated project plans Operate locating equipment and related tools to complete accurate locates across various terrains and work environments, including urban, suburban, and rural job sites Support projects locally throughout Wisconsin (approximately 50%) and travel as needed throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and surrounding areas (approximately 50%) based on project needs Maintain company vehicles, locating equipment, and tools in accordance with service requirements, preventative maintenance schedules, and safety guidelines Communicate locate results, site conditions, and potential conflicts with field leadership and construction crews to support safe, efficient project execution Assist field crews as needed with telecom construction activities, including placing fiber, conduit, and other project support tasks Support crew productivity while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and damage prevention…
